A pilot's license affords the holder the extraordinary opportunity to experience and share adventure, travel, and even a lifestyle glimpsed by a relatively small and rare group of individuals. In fact, throughout the training regime, student pilots (and occasional passengers) will have the opportunity to travel to more distant airports, thereby actually experiencing both the beauty of general aviation while also experiencing the kind of travel experience only available through aviation.
Imagine traveling for an afternoon lunch to Cape Cod, Long Island, or Maine. Picture seeing the Maine Coastline while learning cross-country procedures, Instrument Flight Rules, and Air Traffic Control communications.
Operating in the beautiful Green Mountains, student pilots – and licensed pilots seeking advanced training – will enjoy the breathtaking scenery of New England and Northern New York while also partaking of an educational curriculum designed to teach and advance pilot skills in an enjoyable and educationally supportive atmosphere where students can easily practice a vast array of aviation, cross-country, and instrument skills at multiple airports ranging from the Canadian border to Rhode Island.
Rutland’s Southern Vermont Regional Airport is situated within two magnificent valleys, providing pilots with mountain flying opportunities. As a non-towered airport, students will quickly and easily practice basic skills without losing valuable time (and spending extra resources) waiting for a tower clearance to depart. Yet, with multiple towered airports within a close proximity, students can easily acquire all the skills necessary to fly to both towered and non-towered airports in order to launch a lifetime of adventures.
